Exclusive chances that sometimes happen. A long unforgettable moment that you would love to live for much longer, but it lasts enough to take loads of pictures and remember it forever…
It was a funny discovery, it happened some days ago while I was searching for something to do in Florence – hopefully for free
So I ended up reading a city blog and, 5 minutes after, I was walking towards Palazzo Pitti, here you are what I found out:
It’s in Via Sguazza, the street were Lisa Gherardini – better known as Monalisa, La Gioconda, the wonderful lover of Leonardo Da Vinci was born. And she’s still there in her house waiting for being admired by the people of the world.
Just in front of her there’s a new version of Monalisa, a contemporary picture created by Blub, a street artist in Florence whose paintings and creations are always totally submerged in the water:
After taking some pictures, I head ed towards the second lady of Florence, the less popular one, but it is worth it to tell her story too.
I’m talking about ‘La Berta‘ whose legend tells she was stuck in the wall by magic while she was screaming at a sentenced magician to not give any water to help him. While it was happening, the magician replied that she won’t be able anymore to move her head from that wall of the tower, and there she is:
You just have to look towards the highest part of the wall of Santa Maria Maggiore to see her stuck in between of the two highest windows:

The power of London is the first thing that came to my mind thinking back to the last weekend – while I start singing…the power of Lo-ove..
The frenetical ingredient that everybody needs after a long time spent at work, and before the relaxing and chilling vacation arrives. That detail that adds a free-style mood to the ordinary life, those people who don’t care about what they have to dress in the morning or at night, and that civic-minded Englishness that each time is able to surprise you again and again.
All these facts are also relevant if you decide to go to London for some days, because your best friends live there and you need to see them after a while, and because there’s a special festival too – and finally, you also discover that there’s gonna be the Queen’s bbirthday celebration too! top.
Let’s our journey with a typical brunch in La Farolain Islington area:
Going towards Carnaby St. and the Queen’s 90’s celebration in almost every shops’ windows:
A long way to the best: have a look to the next article to discover more about the London Field Day Festival and most of its protagonsists 😎
You will always appreciate the wonderful walk that leads you to the top of the city of Florence. You can choose several ways to get there, but the best one is through the little gardens behind the Tower of San Niccolò.
Something in the way is the title of this note, and here you are what I found going up to the top of Florence:
Passing by Ponte Vecchio, going towards Ponte alle Grazie:
Towards San Niccolò:
Almost to the top, just next to the Giardino delle Rose (Rose Garden) – main entrance is along the stairs coming up from San Niccolò:

It was supposed to be a day as tourist in Bologna, with things that tourists generally do going up and down the city center and eating tortellini, tagliatelle or what ever… But then something drew my attention: Palazzo Pepoli – Street Art exhibit: Banksy & Co. 😲 And soon I realized that Co. meant Keith Haring from UK, Blu from Italy, Lady Pink from Ecuador, Lee Quinones from NYC, Fekner, lots of works of art coming from Martin Wong Collection in US and so on, unbelievable. Unbelievable was also that this kind of exhibition was into an historical museum and it’s interesting to know how the street art is becoming part of the history, at least in Bologna.
Let’s start with the basic first stencils and works, here you are a series dedicated to the rat, the animal that was chosen to be a symbol of the art diffusion everywhere in the city – as rats generally are everywhere. Then, rat is also a word that can be the anagram of ART:
Then Mickey Mouse crashed on the backdoor of a train – why the train? Because it was one of the first mean used to spread the word by the street artists:
Here you are one of the most popular by Banksy: Rage, Flower Thrower, representing a man wearing a kerchief and baseball cap throwing a bouquet of flowers, with flowers and stemma as the only things in color:
Recently, there has been a very deep argument between the Museum and one of the artists that is part of the exhibit – I’m talking about Blu, the most important one from Bologna: he has not accepted to take part in the exhibition, so he has been stolen of the artworks we can see here. After this, Blu decided to cover all of his works, so now it’s impossible see and enjoy them, none of them is still on the wall of the city.
Take a walk on the wild side, tale-a-walk on the wild side helps you remember about past, think about present and maybe future. A walk on the wild side is what you should do at least once a month, if you’re able to.
This walk should be taken in your hometown, the place where you spent your childhood, the place you enjoy when you was a girl, the place you hate while your university-life because it offered you nothing to enjoy, the place you know love and you can’t wait to be there.
This is a bit of the wildness that everybody should have in life: fresh air, sun, green, yellow too, and time to enjoy it.
Some of the places remind you about your childhood, they were where you used to go with your parents for Sundays pic-nics or just to have a walk in the wild genuine nature, and they are still attracting people at Sundays.
Pristine wild landscapes sorrounding your day, rivers, flowers and relax. Enjoy your peaceful moments before going back to the ordinary life.

If you’re thinking China and Japan are everywhere, you’re totally right. You just need to have a look around to see how many Chinese and Japanese now live in Europe and become part of Western world or see how many fusion restaurants and sushi spread in every city. Well, this trend is also becoming part of fashion world and it’s so weird to notice that stylists and trends are even more focused on this meltin pot, even if talking about a very rooted Italian style as the one by Dolce & Gabbana.
Yesterday I got an invite to have a look at Dolce & Gabbana shop based in the centre of Florence, they would celebrate their new collection, so I decided to have a look. I didn’t expect to see how much Italian it would be and how much Italy would be merged into Asian look & feel: Venice, Florence, Rome, Amalfi, Palermo and so on…monuments and symbols of the most famous cities are part of their dresses and shirts and pants and glasses and accessories! Dresses that look like postcards, colorful bags, striped t-shirts that remind of beach umbrella and summertime, plenty of handmade and unique products which represents Italian Dolce Vita feeling all around the world through these original collections #ItaliaIsLove #LittleSicilianMan #CarrettoSunglasses
But the best is that they’re completely oriented to Asia: the sorrounding areas of the shop have been decorated by scenes and characters representing Chinese and Japanese people in Italy, people interested in Italian culture, trends and lifestyle
One of them is from the very South of Italy, Sicily, and they just created a campaign named #LittleSicilianMan that could be interesting for those who are searching for special gifts for Father’s Day
It was amazing and unexpected to see how Italy meets Asia also through this brand!
It’s weird, because if you’re passionate about e-reading and you spend most of your time reading articles and blogs of popular people and even if you search for something curious, you end up reading those articles written by a famous fashion model or a unknown blogger which show you…where she is, what she wears and what she had for kfastkfast – such a shame.
So, am I guessing if people are really interested in these things? Why nowadays to be trendy means show people and friends pictures about everyday breakfast with eggs, bread, milk and orange juice, yogurts and fresh fruits, jam, coffee or cappuccino, with everything positioned so tidily and methodically on a table?! Then, you just need adding a final must: photos have to be rigorously taken from above.
So, do people use these pictures because of a trendy narcissistic habit or because they just really care about what they have for the most important meal of the day?
By the way, maybe some people just do it because fashion world does the same and this let them feel part of it, as if they shared the same habits. Some other people might tweet and post their breakfast pictures because they wanna share that moment of the day? Or maybe because they spent hours to prepare it and they are excited about the final result, so excited that they need to share it on social networks instead of feel, taste and enjoy that moment?!
I found some other article on this topic, but answers remain skeptical.
Anyway, let your eyes feel glad by looking at those #breakfast 😉
When deciding to go for a weekend in a countryside of Tuscany means meet with several friends who have never been there before, don’t think about how many hours you’ll spend by going up and down the hills, but just think how lucky you are…
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, three days of fabulous landscapes, wine-and-food tasting, homemade products flavours, people who talks locally and you can’t understand, parkings, souvenirs and Google maps as your best friend: this is a free ride in Tuscany! Enjoy it 😊
The Tank of San Gimignano has also been the inspiration of Escher in one of its architectural study!
And here you are some arts and crafts and typical products of San Gimignano:
‘Vernaccia’ is the typical wine from San Gimignano, so you can’t avoid to have a glass of wine while tasting genuine salami – like the typical ‘finocchiona’ – olive oil and the special guest ‘yellow- saffron‘ which is the very typical feature of this city (which differs from other little small cities of Tuscany):
At the end, the almost 5 pounds gained will be very appreciated if thinking back to all the delicious things you’ve tasted and discovered!
It was a long time I really wanted to spent hours breathing fresh air far from the city, totally sourrounded by nature, fields, trees, no noise. Hence I finally got to go for a walk up a little mountain!
The first meeting I had was totally amazing 😍 with there little and hardworking mules!!
It was like an old frame from the past, staring at those little mules giunge up the mountain and discovering they are still used as a transfer way it’s unbelievable! So cute 😊
Here you are some other shots I took trying to go near them while they were having their lunch break:
